The 2013 Drammies Awards were announced, with the Isles standing tall.
The Drammies are conceived by Kevin Erskine and presented by forwhiskylovers.com.
The awards cover everything from Best Distillery Tour (Laphroig) to the Worst Marketing Campaign (Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Bee.)
The award for Best Whisk(e)y went to Highland Park 18, while Ardbeg 10 won for Best Value, and Glenfarclas 10 took the Most Underrated honors.
Clearly, the majority of Drammies Award voters have pallets quite similar to ours here at One Man’s Malt. And given the busy hive of innovation at Bruichladdich, it makes perfect sense that they took home both Distillery of the Year and Most Exciting/Innovative Whisky Producer/Bottler.
Perhaps the biggest surprise, Best New Whisk(e)y went to the Balcones distillery, but not for one of their Texas-style corn whiskies. They won for their Texas #1 Single Malt Whisky! But no wonder, given all the awards it has won over the past year. We will have to hunt down a bottle very soon.
Congratulations to all those honored, and to the voters for having such good taste!
