Oban’s Lifeboat Whisky a big hit

A few weeks back a couple of bottles of special 18 year old Oban were sold at Glasbow’ Mulberry Bank Auction House. The proceeds going to the Oban Lifeboat Station, in honor of their 40 years in operation. Estimates were between £140 and £180, but both sold for £260!

There are another 295 bottles of this special edition, with its unique packaging. It is the equivalent of a hogshead worth of 18 yo Oban. Whether this is in fact a single cask, or a usual vatting equal to that ammount is as of yet unclear.

But the retail price has not as yet been announced. A worthy cause no doubt, and a great whisky to be sure.
